The Client

WasabiHub is the online home of Sushikiller, a Dutch Valorant streamer and content creator. The site covers his gaming community, streaming content, and the annual Wasabi Charity Cup, a tournament that raised €8,645 for UMC Utrecht Wilhelmina Kinderziekenhuis in its last edition.

The Goal

The existing site lacked a clear visual hierarchy and didn't reflect the energy of the community behind it. The goal was to redesign the homepage to immediately communicate what WasabiHub is, create a stronger first impression, and give the Charity Cup the prominent spotlight it deserves.

01 Rethinking the Homepage

The original homepage presented information in a flat, undifferentiated way, with everything sharing the same visual weight, making it hard to know where to look first. There was no strong hero moment, and the Charity Cup, arguably the most emotionally resonant part of the brand, was buried further down the page.

My approach focused on establishing a clear hierarchy from top to bottom: lead with the brand identity, introduce Sushikiller, and give the Charity Cup its own bold section that feels worthy of the cause. I chose a dark theme with a vivid green accent to match the gaming aesthetic of the community while keeping things readable and structured.

02 Key Design Decisions

The hero section was completely reworked to open with a bold typographic statement: "Gaming. Community. Charity." This immediately tells visitors what the site is about in three words. The Sushikiller banner image was repositioned to sit alongside the about text rather than floating disconnected on the page.

For the Charity Cup, I designed a dedicated callout block with high contrast and a clear CTA, making it feel like the meaningful annual event that it is rather than just another content section. This structure makes it easier for returning visitors to navigate and for new visitors to instantly understand what WasabiHub stands for.

03 Current Status

This is an ongoing client project, currently being built out in WordPress. The homepage design has been implemented and the inner pages are still in progress. Working with a real client on a live site has been a valuable experience in balancing design ambitions with practical content and platform constraints.
